Mödlitz is a district of the Upper Franconian community Schneckenlohe in the Kronach district in Bavaria .

geography

Mödlitz is located about 18 kilometers southeast of Coburg in a side valley of the Steinach at the foot of the Gubel. Municipal roads connect with Gestungshausen , Neuses am Brand and Schneckenlohe . The federal highway 303 from Sonnefeld to Kronach leads past the place.

history

Mödlitz was first mentioned in 1317 in the Urbarium , a list of possessions of the Henneberger when the New Rulership was acquired. In 1340 Mödlitz had the place name "Moltiche".

In 1485, the von Raueneck lords acquired fiefs in Mödlitz from the Michelsberg monastery in Bamberg , which were later taken over by the Principality of Coburg and have been recorded in the Coburg fief book since 1492 .

As a result of the Thirty Years' War , Mödlitz only had two houses in 1638, which were inhabited by six farmers, two widows and twelve children. In 1672 there were again 65 inhabitants. From the beginning of the 18th century there was a pre-formulation school in Mödlitz . The school was given to Leutendorf in 1842. In the middle of the 19th century the feudal rights were replaced. The most important feudal lords were the Mitwitz lords of Würtzburg . Between 1879 and 1881 a common schoolhouse was built in Neuses am Brand . In 1907 the community got a telephone connection. The drinking water supply took place from 1909 through a water pipe. In 1921 Mödlitz was connected to the electrical overland network.

Mödlitz has been part of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Gestungshausen for centuries .

In a referendum on November 30, 1919, one citizens of Mödlitz voted for the Free State of Coburg to join the Thuringian state and 66 against. From July 1st, 1920 Mödlitz belonged to the Free State of Bavaria .

In 1920 Mödlitz got a connection to the railway network with the Steinachtalbahn . In 1992 the line was dismantled.

In 1935, most of the residents were employed in agriculture. There were also basket makers and home workers.

After a referendum in 1971 in Mödlitz, the place was incorporated into Weidhausen near Coburg on January 1, 1972 . The reclassification of the place from the district of Coburg to the district of Kronach after Schneckenlohe followed on May 1, 1978.

In 1987 the village had 142 inhabitants and 37 houses.
