action

Katharina and Richard Benedek are actually a happy couple. Richard's job as an EU official is in Prague. This fact results in the fact that the two can only see each other on the weekends.

The holiday in Barcelona, the city in which the relationship between the two began, is already firmly booked when Katharina suddenly finds out that Richard has disappeared in Prague without a trace. Of course, the vacation plans are now bursting and instead she goes to Prague to look for Richard. Katharina, who has not traveled too much in the world apart from her hometown in Cologne, feels uncomfortable and sometimes overwhelmed in the Czech metropolis. Nevertheless, there she feverishly searches for traces of Richard and gets into a dangerous adventure.

Katharina learns that Richard no longer holds the post of an EU official, but instead he has had a parallel relationship with the attractive companion Vera Frantova for a long time . Furthermore, Katharina learns from the Czech Commissioner Pokorny that Richard's double life had taken on much larger dimensions: Richard is involved in dark financial transactions with the Russian mafia: Richard has cheated the criminal organization out of counterfeit money and was therefore forced to disappear from the public. without leaving any traces.

When, in the further course of the plot, the money forger Morak, the father of the prostitute Vera, who is renowned in criminal circles, is murdered, Katharina fears that she has actually married Robert and a murderer. Still, she can't just shake off her feelings for him and deep down she continues to hope that he is innocent, even if the circumstances speak more and more against him. In her desperation and helplessness, she gladly accepts the offer of help from the Belgian Janic Bové, who pretends to be an old friend of Richard's when he was still an EU official in Prague.

While the remains of a contract killer of the Russian Mafia are found in a dilapidated skyscraper, it becomes clear that Bové is an undercover police officer who only intends to get to Richard via Katharina. As a result, Richard secretly contacts Katharina and organizes a meeting. In doing so, he admits that he is involved in the counterfeit money affair and must therefore remain undetected. However, he asserts that he did not kill anyone. He only got into the whole story because he was of the opinion that he could offer Katharina more in life than just a petty official. Katharina senses his helplessness in Richard's statements, but is not sure whether she can believe all of his assurances.

However, all the twists and turns and shocking experiences also aimed to make Katharina, the rather shy girl from Cologne, think about her own strengths. Equipped with tremendous self-confidence, she decides to confront Mafia boss Orlov in his own establishment to find out the whole truth.

TV Spielfilm is of the opinion that there is no tension in the plot of the film. The program guide's moderate conclusion is: “As predictable as frost in December”.

The television magazine TV Today judges equally sharply and in its summary is of the opinion that "Katharina Benedek [...] in Prague [experiences] one surprise after another. Unfortunately not the viewer ”.

The criticism of the TV magazine prisma , on the other hand, is somewhat more benevolent: "With atmospheric images from the old town of the Czech metropolis, director Johannes Grieser (" Deadly Trust ") depicts an exciting, if not always coherent story about love, trust and trust in this TV thriller Amounted to".

The lexicon of international film states in its final sentence: “Solid crime thriller with atmospheric images from Prague”.
