The Mühlbach is a thirty-two kilometer-long left tributary of the Lahn in the Rhein-Lahn district in Rhineland-Palatinate, coming from the Taunus .

course

The lower Mühlbachtal seen from the steep slope Vestehell to the north

The Mühlbach rises south of the Galgenküppel in the western Hintertaunus in the district of Weidenbach , flows from here first to the south in the direction of Schönau Monastery, then takes a westerly direction to Strüth and then turns north. In its middle course it reaches Nastatten , Miehlen and Marienfels , where the valley widens to the Miehlener Grund .

The lower Mühlbachtal is cut deep into the plateau of the Einrich . The rocky slopes of the winding Kerbtal valley are densely forested , apart from block heaps and rocky knolls. The slopes and partly also the stream are well developed with hiking trails. Shortly before the mouth, the Mühlbach forms a loop that swings westwards around the steep castle hill of Nassau Castle, before it flows into the Lahn northwest of Nassau with an average flow rate of 1.1 m³ / s .

The now dismantled Zollhaus - Braubach line of the Nassau Kleinbahn ran between Nastätten and Marienfels in the Mühlbachtal.
