Giessen-Koblenz Lahntal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gießen-Koblenz Lahntal is a valley basin in western Hesse and eastern Rhineland-Palatinate , which includes the lower reaches of the Lahn and the Limburg basin . In terms of nature , it represents the main unit group 31. It extends from Leun to the confluence of the Lahn into the Rhine at Lahnstein . Contrary to its name, it does not go east to Gießen , but ends west of Wetzlar .

Natural structure

The Gießen-Koblenzer Lahntal is structured as follows:

Map of the structure of the LM district with natural area numbers

The division of unit 311.14 (western part of the old unit 311.13 and extreme west of 311.0) and the subdivision of 311.2 come from a newer, local publication for the Limburg-Weilburg district, see adjacent map.

The Gießen-Koblenzer Lahntal is the western extension of the Marburg-Gießener Lahntal (main unit 348). To the west it finds its extension in the Moselle valley (main unit group 25), from which it is separated by the Middle Rhine region (29). The Westerwald joins to the north and the Hintertaunus to the south .
