Maillet is a village and a former French commune with 319 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Allier department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It belonged to the arrondissement of Montluçon and the canton of Hérisson .
With effect from January 1, 2016, Maillet was merged with the former municipalities of Givarlais and Louroux-Hodement to form a nouvelle commune called Haut-Bocage and has the status of a déléguée commune in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Maillet.
Neighboring towns are Vallon-en-Sully in the northwest, Hérisson in the northeast, Venas and Louroux-Hodement in the southeast, Givarlais in the south, Reugny and Audes in the southwest and Nassigny in the west.
