history

Under French rule, the Mairie Haßlinghausen was set up in the Hagen arrondissement of the Ruhr department in the Grand Duchy of Berg in 1806 . In 1815 the French occupied area came to Prussia .

In 1887, Haßlinghausen was connected to the railway network by the Schee – Silschede railway line . The Germany colliery and the Haßlinghauser Hütte were the largest industrial companies in the area at the end of the 19th century.

Until the city of Sprockhövel was founded on January 1, 1970, the district was an independent municipality and seat of the Haßlinghausen office in the Hagen district (until 1887), in the Schwelm district (until 1929) and in the Ennepe-Ruhr district (until 1970). The communal independence of the municipality and the office of Haßlinghausen ended with the transition to the city of Sprockhövel ( Düsseldorf law ). Smaller parts of the eastern municipality in the area of the motorway junction Wuppertal-Nord and Schmiedestrasse had to be given over to Wuppertal.

Attractions

In the Haßlinghausen district there is a passenger garden train with 127 mm (5 inch) and 184 mm (7¼ inch) gauge, which is operated by the Sprockhövel Steam Railway Club, founded in 2004. Between April and September the association organizes monthly public driving days.
