Maksims Rafaļskis (born May 14, 1984 in Riga ) is a Latvian football player who is under contract with ÍA Akranes in the Icelandic Pepsideild .
Career
society
Maksims Rafaļskis began his career in the Latvian capital Riga , at JFC Skonto of the youth department of the record champions Skonto Riga . From the 2005 season under contract with FK Riga , he made his professional debut in the top Latvian league of Virslīga . After three seasons at FK Riga, he moved to FK Liepājas Metalurgs in the summer of 2008 , who was trained by the German Rüdiger Abramczik at that time . With the team from the port city of Liepāja , Rafaļskis won the Latvian championship in the 2009 season and was seventh in the scorers list with Andrejs Perepļotkins with 11 goals scored in 30 games . After another season at Metalurgs , he moved to the Russian second division team Baltika Kaliningrad from the former Königsberg . At the beginning of the 2012 season , Rafaļskis returned to Latvia and played for FC Daugava Daugavpils . In 2013 Rafaļskis signed a two-year contract with ÍA Akranes from Iceland .
National team
Maksims Rafaļskis made his debut for the Latvian national football team in 2009 against Bulgaria when he was substituted on for Jurijs Žigajevs . Furthermore, he took part with the selection at the Baltic Cup 2010 , where he was used in the two goalless games against Lithuania and Estonia over the entire 180 minutes of play. After 12 international matches, Rafaļskis completed his 13th and last against Israel in qualifying for the 2012 European Championship .
