Manakamana ( Nepali मनकामना ) is a Village Development Committee (VDC) in central Nepal in the Gorkha district .

Manakamana is located 12 km south of the district capital Gorkha . In the center of the VDC is a 1300  m high mountain on which the eponymous Manakamana temple is located, which was destroyed in the earthquake in 2015 . The VDC is bounded in the south by the Trishuli , in the west by the Marsyangdi and in the north-west by the Daraudi .

The Manakamana Temple was an important place of pilgrimage and a major tourist destination. Visitors mostly reached it via the Manakamana cable car .

Residents

At the 2011 census, the VDC Manakamana had 6,203 inhabitants (2,876 men) in 1,392 households.
