Manapa is an East Timorese Suco in the administrative office of Cailaco ( Bobonaro municipality ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Manapa had an area of ​​18.38 km². Now there are 20.19 km². The Suco is located in the southwest of the administrative office of Cailaco. To the north is Suco Meligo , which also belongs to Cailaco , to the northeast is Goulolo and to the east Atudara and Raiheu . In the south and west Manapa borders on the administrative office of Maliana with its Suco Ritabou . Much of the border with Ritabou is formed by the Bulobo River. Only in the northwest does a narrow strip of Manapas extend across the river to the north. Several tributaries flow into the Bulobo. The southern border river Biusosso , the northern border river Nakere and the river Karbau .

The larger towns of Sucos are in the west. Between Karbau and Nakere these are Tatelori ( Tate Lori ) and Manapaatas , in the southwest on the Biusosso the village of Acubira . Tapomeak ( Tapo Meac ) is located in the narrow strip between the border with Ritabou and the Bulobo River in the northwest . The country road from Maliana to Hatolia Vila (municipality of Ermera ) runs through the northwestern strip of Manapas . At Tapomeak she crosses the Bulobo with a bridge. There is a primary school in Manapaatas. the Escola Primaria Manapa .

In the Suco are the three Aldeias Lugululi , Tapomeak and Tatelori .

Residents

1688 inhabitants (2015) live in the Suco, of which 882 are men and 806 women. The population density is 83.6 inhabitants / km². There are 291 households in the Suco. Almost 80% of the population name Kemak as their mother tongue. A little more than 20% speak Tetum Prasa .

In the 2004/2005 elections , Agustinho Soares was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections , Zeferino Soares Lemos won .

history

In Manapa, too, there were violent acts around the East Timorese independence referendum in 1999 . On April 19, 1999, the two supporters of independence Armando Berlaku Soares and Antonio Basilio were murdered in Manapa. Residents were forced to flee to Samutaben , houses were burned down. On August 18, members of the pro-Indonesian militia Besi Merah Putih again attacked residents in Manapa and destroyed 15 houses. About 80 residents fled to Maliana.
