Before the 2015 territorial reform, Meligo had an area of 42.90 km². Now it is 42.82 km². The Suco is located to the west of the Cailaco administrative office. In the north, Meligo borders on the Suco Atudara , to the east on the Sucos Dau Udo , Guenu Lai and Goulolo and in the south and southwest on Manapa . In the west is the administrative office of Maliana with its Suco Ritabou and in the northwest the administrative office of Atabae with its Suco Hataz . The river Nunura , which is called Bebai here, forms the border with Hataz . The western border follows the Bulobo River before it flows into the Nunura. The Sahalolo and Nakere rivers , tributaries of the Bulobo, have their source in Meligo . The Nakere is the border river to Manapa. The rivers Malubolo and Hatopoci have their source in the north . The Hatopoci initially follows part of the border with Dau Udo before it swings west and unites with the Malubolo. Together the rivers now flow to the northwest, unite with the Timoreme , the border river to Atudara, and finally flow into the Nunura / Bebai. The rivers are part of the Lóis system .

The largest town in Sucos is Marko , the main town of the Cailaco administrative office. It is located in the northwest of the Sucos between the rivers Bulobo and Hatopoci. In some reports, it is also incorrectly referred to as Cailaco . With the place Liabote ( Lia Bote ) Marko forms a closed settlement. It has a helipad, a community health center and a primary school, the Escola Primaria Meligo . A little north of Marko between Hatopoci and Tiomoreme lies the village of Biadila on the border with Atudara. The village of Daulelo lies further to the east, also between the two rivers . The village of Harema is located on the south bank of Hatopoci .

In the center of Sucos are the villages of Mautilu , Mabutease , Barolura ( Barolara ), Berleu ( Bereleu ) and Pisulara . To the south of the Sahalolo are the villages of Mude and Lisuabe and to the south-east of Meligo are the villages of Baleo , Lesuaben and Poerema .

The country road from Maliana to Hatolia Vila (municipality of Ermera ) crosses the west of the Sucos . At Tapo Meac it crosses the Bulobo with a bridge, continues along its eastern bank to Marko and Liabote and over another bridge over the Hatopoci to Biadila, where it leaves the Suco over the Timoreme to Atudara. In addition to the one in Marko, there are other primary schools in Pisulara and Mude.

The four Aldeias Berleu , Daulelo , Liabote and Mude are located in the Suco .

Residents

3018 inhabitants (2015) live in the Suco, of which 1499 are men and 1519 women. The population density is 70.5 inhabitants / km². There are 511 households in the Suco. About 95% of the population name Kemak as their mother tongue. Small minorities speak Tetum Prasa or Bunak .

In Airae on December 21, 1999, Daniel Leal was murdered by members of the pro-Indonesian militia Halilintar because his son was with the FALINTIL .

On December 17, 2003, a flood in Atudara and Meligo washed away nine houses and damaged seven more. No people died, but farm animals were lost and fields were destroyed. The area was previously affected by flooding.
