The hut in 2007 before expansion

The Rifugio Città di Mantova is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Valais Alps . It is located at an altitude of 3498  m in the Lystal side valley near the Ghiacciaio del Garstelet glacier within the municipality of Gressoney . The hut is open from the end of March to mid-April and from mid-June to mid-September and offers 80 beds for climbers.

history

In 1974 the hut was inaugurated by the CAI , Mantova section . In 2009 the hut underwent a significant expansion.

Accesses

You can reach the hut from the valley town of Alagna Valsesia by cable car to Passo dei Salati. From there the hiking trail leads over the Stolemberg and the Punta Indren in about two hours over the Indren glacier to the Rifugio.

Another access runs from Gressoney-La-Trinité in Lystal via Gabiet, past the high light to the refuge, from where you can already see the Gnifetti refuge, which is 150 meters higher .
