Marc-André Daniel Bédard (born February 19, 1986 in Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier , Québec ) is a Canadian biathlete .

Marc-André Bédard began biathlon in 2000 after having previously been a cross-country skier. He is not related to Myriam Bédard . He has competed regularly in European races since 2004 and takes part in the European Cup and also in European championships. His first appearance in the European Cup was in a relay race of the juniors in 2004, from 2006 he also started in individual races. At the same time, he was able to achieve some successes in junior competitions. In 2004 he won a medal in Haute-Maurienne , 2005 in Kontiolahti and 2007 in Martell at the junior world championships with the relay - first two silver medals and 2007 bronze medals - and in 2005 he was the best-placed North American in all competitions. At the Canadian Championships in 2004, 2005 and 2006, he won the sprint title and stood on the podium in almost all other competitions.

In Cesana , Italy , he won a sprint in the European Cup on March 12, 2008 after faultless shooting . After the two-time Olympic and world champion Myriam Bédard and Sandra Keith from Calgary , who won a race in the European Cup in 2003, he was only the third Canadian to win an international biathlon competition outside of North America. In the 2008/09 season, Bédard could not build on his successes from the previous season. In the races of the IBU Cup , he did not make it into the top twenty. Nevertheless, he was able to make his debut in the Biathlon World Cup in a sprint race in Trondheim in the same season and immediately reached the subsequent pursuit with 46th place. In Antholz he could in 2010 to reach the sprint with 20th place his best performance in the World Cup and first win World Cup points. Marc-André Bédard took part in the 2010 Winter Olympics. At his only start, with the relay, he finished 10th. At the North American Biathlon Championships in 2010 in Fort Kent , he was the only well-known Canadian biathlete to take part and won bronze in the pursuit race behind Wynn Roberts and Walt Shepard and silver behind Russell Currier in the mass start . In the overall standings of the Biathlon NorAm Cup 2009/10 , Bédard took eighth place in the overall standings and came first, second and third in each of the races. His third place overall in the 2011/12 season is remarkable , as he only contested four out of twelve races, but won them all. In the following season he finally won the NorAm Cup after two wins and second places . At the North American Championships in Summer Biathlon 2010 in Canmore , he won gold in the sprint as well as in the pursuit.
