Marc Eberle (director)
Marc O. Eberle (* 1972 in Heidelberg ) is a German film director and screenwriter .
Life
Marc Eberle studied American studies , history and media culture with a focus on documentary film at the University of Hamburg from 1993 to 1998 . The following year he received his Master of Arts at the Royal Holloway College of the University of London in film studies . From 1997 to 1998, alongside his studies, he worked as a freelancer at CineGraph in Hamburg ; later after graduation he worked at Archive Films Inc. in New York City as a researcher .
Eberle has been a director for documentaries since 2001 and lives in South and Southeast Asia . While he worked for the German public television broadcasters in the first few years , he has also been making short films for the Dutch broadcaster VPRO since 2011 . He celebrated his greatest success so far with the film America's Secret War in Laos - The CIA's Biggest Military Operation in 2009. The international coproduction by twelve stations started in German cinemas in early 2009 and has been shown at more than fifteen film festivals; in addition, the film was sold in more than twenty-five countries. In addition to his work as a director, Eberle also helped set up Cambodia's first private broadcaster , Cambodian Television Network , as an editor , producer and trainer .
