Marcello Bartolucci

Marcello Bartolucci (born April 9, 1944 in Bastia Umbra , Province of Perugia , Italy ) is a Curial Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Marcello Bartolucci studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the regional seminar of Umbria and received on 9 November 1968 by the Bishop of Assisi , Giuseppe Placido Nicolini M. OSB , the sacrament of Holy Orders . Then his doctorate he attended the Pontifical Lateran University to Dr. theol. and also obtained a degree in catechetics there . He also gained at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas , the licentiate in professional Canon Law .

He then worked in various parishes as a pastor , first as a chaplain , later as a pastor . He also gave religious instruction in various state schools.

In 1977 he entered the service of the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints and initially worked in the local legal department. On January 7, 1983, Pope John Paul II awarded him the honorary title of Chaplain to His Holiness ( Monsignor ) and on February 16, 1993 the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness .

For more than 20 years he was responsible for both the Latin and Italian texts of the decrees on the heroic degree of virtue, on martyrdom and miracles , which are published in the Acta Apostolicae Sedis as part of the canonization process . He was also secretary of the Commission for the Revision of the Rite of Beatification .

On June 14, 2007 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . as Undersecretary of the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints. On December 29, 2010 he was by Benedict XVI. finally appointed titular archbishop of Mevania and secretary of this dicastery . The episcopal ordination received his Benedict XVI. on February 5, 2011 in St. Peter's Basilica ; Co-consecrators were Cardinal Dean Angelo Sodano and Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone SDB .
