Marco Maurer (born February 21, 1988 in Affoltern am Albis ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who has been under contract with EHC Biel in the National League since 2015 .

Career

Marco Maurer began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of EV Zug , for whose professional team he played in the National League A from 2005 to 2009 . In the 2007/08 season he also denied two games for the Swiss U-20 national ice hockey team in the National League B . The defender spent the 2009/10 season at Genève-Servette HC in the NLA, but also made three appearances as a loan player for Lausanne HC in the NLB.

For the 2010/11 season , Maurer was signed by the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers . During the following season, in December 2011, the defender signed a two-year contract with the ZSC Lions from the 2012/13 season .

From November 2013 he was under contract with HC Lugano , having initially signed a two-year contract with the Ticino team (valid from the 2014/15 season) and a few days later he was exchanged for Dan Fritsche from the same club.

In January 2015, he agreed on a two-year contract with EHC Biel from the 2015/16 season.

International

At the 2007 U20 Junior World Championship , Maurer broke his neck after a serious collision. The then 18-year-old survived this accident. After just under a year, he was back on the ice. Maurer played 50 junior internationals.
