Marco Pérez Caicedo (born July 14, 1967 in Daule ) is an Ecuadorian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cuenca .

Life

Marco Pérez studied in Guayaquil and Rome. The Archbishop of Guayaquil, Juan Ignacio Larrea Holguín , ordained him a priest on March 19, 1992 . After working as a parish vicar, he became vice chancellor of the Guayaquil seminary in 1998, and was its rector from 1999 to 2002. In 2004 he obtained a degree in theology in Rome.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on June 10, 2006 auxiliary bishop in Guayaquil and titular bishop of Traiectum ad Mosam . The Archbishop of Guayaquil, Antonio Arregui Yarza , ordained him episcopal on July 22nd of the same year; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Giacomo Guido Ottonello , Apostolic Nuncio in Ecuador, and Raúl Eduardo Vela Chiriboga , Archbishop of Quito . On February 10, 2012 he was by Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Babahoyo . On September 14, 2013, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Administrator of Guaranda , which he remained until August 15, 2014.

On June 20, 2016, Pope Francis appointed Pérez Archbishop of Cuenca.
