Fausto Gabriel Trávez Trávez OFM (born March 18, 1941 in Toacazo ) is an Ecuadorian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Quito .

Life

Fausto Gabriel Trávez Trávez joined the Order of the Franciscans (OFM) , made his solemn profession on October 15, 1965 and was ordained a priest on December 12, 1970 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on February 1, 2003 Vicar Apostolic of Zamora in Ecuador and Titular Bishop of Sullectum . He was ordained bishop by the Apostolic Nuncio in Ecuador , Alain Paul Charles Lebeaupin , on March 15 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Vicente Rodrigo Cisneros Durán , Archbishop of Cuenca , and Serafín Luis Alberto Cartagena Ocaña OFM, Emeritus Vicar Apostolic of Zamora in Ecuador.

On March 27, 2008, Fausto Gabriel Trávez Trávez was appointed Bishop of Babahoyo and on May 24 of the same year he was appointed to the office. He was appointed Archbishop of Quito on September 11, 2010 and was introduced to the office on October 22 of the same year.

In May 2014, Archbishop Trávez was elected to succeed Archbishop Antonio Arregui Yarza as Chairman of the Conferencia Episcopal Ecuatoriana (CEE), the Ecuadorian Bishops' Conference for the period from 2014 to 2017 .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on April 5, 2019.
