The Diocese of Babahoyo ( Latin Dioecesis Babahoiensis , Spanish diócesis de Babahoyo ) is in Ecuador located Roman Catholic diocese based in Babahoyo .

history

The Diocese of Babahoyo was established on July 15, 1948 from cessions of territory from the Diocese of Guayaquil as the Apostolic Vicariate of Los Ríos . On September 10, 1951, the Vicariate Apostolic was elevated to a territorial prelature . On August 22, 1994, the territorial prelature Los Ríos was raised to the diocese and renamed the diocese of Babahoyo . The diocese of Babahoyo was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Guayaquil as a suffragan .
