Marek Viedenský (born August 18, 1990 in Handlová , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Oceláři Třinec from the Czech extra league since July 2018 .
Career
Viedenský first spent his junior career at MšHK Prievidza before moving to the youth department of HC Dukla Trenčín in 2006 . He spent two years there before moving to North America. There he played in the Western Hockey League between summer 2008 and January 2010 for the Prince George Cougars that him in the Import Draft CHL had drawn in 2008 in the second round to a total of 69 point, and was during this time in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft in selected in the seventh round in 189th place by the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League . In January 2010 he moved within the league to the Saskatoon Blades . In the following summer, in which he was selected in the fourth round of the KHL Junior Draft 2010 in 80th position by HK Sibir Novosibirsk , he was signed by the San Jose Sharks, but they loaned him to Saskatoon for another year.
In the summer of 2011, Viedenský finally switched to the professional field and received a place in the roster of the Worcester Sharks , the San Joses farm team from the American Hockey League . After a full season there, he commuted between Worcester and San Francisco Bulls from the ECHL the following season . In the 2013/14 season he was used exclusively for Worcester.
In June 2014 he returned to Europe and signed a one-year contract with HPK Hämeenlinna from Liiga in Finland . After this contract expired, he moved back to his home country to HC Slovan Bratislava , for whom he was on the ice in the Continental Hockey League until 2018 and played over 120 KHL games.
In July 2018 he moved to HC Oceláři Třinec from the Czech extra league .
International
Viedenský represented his home country in the junior division at the U18 World Junior Championships in 2008 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2009 and 2010 . The best placement was a fourth place at the U20 Junior World Championship in 2009.
For the Slovak men's selection , Viedenský was used for the first time at the 2014 World Cup in the Belarusian capital Minsk . Also in 2015 and 2016 he played for the Slovaks in the World Cup in the top division.
