Maren Weigel (born May 22, 1994 in Stuttgart ) is a German handball player who is a member of the German national team.

Career

Maren Weigel initially played for SG H2Ku Herrenberg before moving to VfL Pfullingen in 2007 . After the left-hander started playing for HSG Schönbuch in 2008, she joined JSG Neuhausen-Metzingen a year later, with whom she won the German B youth championship in 2010. In the 2010/11 season she received game shares in the then second division TuS Metzingen , a parent club of JSG Neuhausen-Metzingen.

Weigel was signed in 2011 by Bundesliga club VfL Sindelfingen , who, however, canceled their team for financial reasons before the 2011/12 season. Then she signed a contract with the second division TV Nellingen . For the 2014/15 season, the backcourt player moved to the Bundesliga club TuS Metzingen. With Metzingen, she was in the 2016 EHF Cup final and the 2017 DHB Cup final .

Weigel played for the German youth and junior national team. At the U-20 World Cup in 2014 , she took 4th place with the DHB team. On March 21, 2018, she made her debut for the German national team. She has played 19 games so far in which she scored 23 goals.
