Marchand-Arvier took part in FIS races for the first time in December 2000 , appearances in the European Cup followed from January 2002. In the Alpine Ski World Cup , she competes in the downhill , super-G , super-combined and, more rarely, giant slalom . Her first race was the Super-G in Cortina d'Ampezzo on January 14, 2004 . She took her first World Cup points a year later on the downhill in Cortina d'Ampezzo. It was not until the end of the 2005/06 season that she was able to place in the points again and also made it into the top 15 for the first time. In the 2006/07 season she reached her first podium places - on January 20, 2007 in Cortina d'Ampezzo and on March 14, 2007 in Lenzerheide , she was third in the downhill.
The first major event for Marchand-Arvier was the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , where she was 15th in the downhill, 25th in the Super-G and 18th in the combined. She took part in the 2007 World Championships in Åre and finished 11th in the Downhill and 18th in the Super-G. Her greatest success so far was at the 2009 World Championships in Val-d'Isère by winning the silver medal in the Super-G. She finished the super combination on fifth and the downhill in sixth place.
In the World Cup, Marchand-Arvier was in the top ten several times in the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons , but the next podium was only achieved on January 31, 2010 with second place in the Super-G in St. Moritz . Five weeks earlier, she had a bad crash in the Super-G in Val-d'Isère, but suffered only minor injuries. At the 2010 Olympic Winter Games , Marchand-Arvier was seventh in the downhill and tenth in the super combined. In the Super-G, she was eliminated. Marchand-Arvier achieved only one top 10 result in the 2010/11 World Cup season . At the 2011 World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , her best result was 15th place in the super combination.
In the 2011/12 season Marchand-Arvier finished second on the Lake Louise descent once on the podium. Another four times - three times in the downhill and once in the Super-G - she was among the top ten. In the Downhill World Cup she reached eighth place and thus her best overall placement in this discipline. In June 2014 she married the French biathlete Vincent Jay . On March 19, 2015, she contested her last World Cup race with the Super-G in Méribel , shortly afterwards she ended her career.
