Mario Mattei (born September 6, 1792 in Pergola , † October 7, 1870 in Rome ) was a cardinal of the Roman Church and cardinal dean .

Life

He came from the aristocratic Mattei family . Mattei was ordained a priest around 1817 and then worked as a prelate at the curia . Pope Gregory XVI appointed him on July 2, 1832 cardinal deacon of the titular deaconry Santa Maria in Aquiro . From 1842 to 1844 he was cardinal priest of the titular church Santa Maria degli Angeli . In 1844 Mattei became Cardinal Bishop of Frascati .
