In the Margrave Forest, a densely wooded branch of around four kilometers from the ridge line of the plateau culminates in a north-westerly direction. To the south-west the branch drops off steeply to the Höllbach and in the north and north-east just as steeply to the Reisenbach . on the other side of the Reisenbach, only a good three kilometers to the north, lies the next highest peak of the Winterhauchs, the Hart ( 581 m ).
The summit of the Markgrafenwald is about 1.3 km north of Mülben and can be reached from this 497 m high place via the Markgrafenstraße . A good 2 km northwest of the summit and a few hundred meters before the end of the plateau, which is expressly named in the official maps as a breath of winter and as a secondary summit of the Markgrafenwald a height of 544.5 m above sea level. When you reach NHN , you will find the Max-Wilhelmshöhe hunting lodge .
