Markus Pöck (born January 15, 1992 in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee ) is an Austrian ice hockey striker who last played for EK Zell am See in the Inter-National League in the 2016/17 season . He is the son of the former ice hockey player and team boss Herbert Pöck . His brother Thomas is also a hockey player.

Career

Like his brother, Pöck began his career at EC KAC in Klagenfurt. After two seasons in the U20 team, he made his first appearances in the EBEL in 2009/10 . With his achievements, he was the first player to make it into the Central Scouting Service Draft Ranking directly from Austria . Although Pöck was not drawn in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft , he moved to North America. At the CHL Import Draft 2010, the Power Forward was selected by the Sudbury Wolves from the Canadian junior league Ontario Hockey League . On September 24, 2010 he completed his first OHL season game for Sudbury against the Niagara Ice Dogs . At the Wolves, however, he could not prevail, returned to Austria after only three appearances and signed a five-year contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg . He won the Austrian championship title with the Red Bulls in 2011 and 2014 . In 2014, participation in the playoff final was enough, as the victorious final opponent HC Bozen as an Italian team could win the league but not the national championship title. In summer 2015 he went back to Klagenfurt to the EC KAC.

In the 2016/17 season, the Carinthian played with his cousin Franz Wilfan for EK Zell am See .

Since the beginning of the 2017/18 season he has been active at VST Adler Völkermarkt in the Carinthian AHC Division , an amateur league.

International

In his junior years, Pöck took part in two U18 junior championships ( 2009 and 2010 in Division I) and three U20 junior world championships ( 2010 in the top division, 2011 and 2012 in division I). In 2010 he played - like Konstantin Komarek - both tournaments. In the men's national team , he made his debut on November 6, 2014, 3-2 success against Belarus in Ljubljana, Slovenia .
