Markus Wolf (born July 22, 1963 in Stuttgart ) is a German sculptor and painter who lives and works in Stuttgart- Plieningen .

Life

After graduating from high school, Markus Wolf graduated from the master class for stone sculptors in Freiburg im Breisgau . A key experience in 1994 was the planned demolition of the late Classicist tomb of the last Degerloch farm school, Wilhelm Gohl (* 1834, † 1895) on the old cemetery there . Wolf refused this assignment and then lost his job. In 1996 he took over the Pfeiffer master workshop in Stuttgart- Plieningen . Wolf specialized early on in sculptures on topics related to regional history.

His first historical work in 1995 was the reconstruction of the 1945 destroyed monument on the Alte Weinsteige in Stuttgart. The reconstructed sculpture was inaugurated on the 500th anniversary of the ascension of Count Eberhard in the beard of Württemberg . Wolf became internationally known for his more than thirty Staufer steles , which were erected across Europe and remind us of the Hohenstaufen , who were Roman-German kings and emperors in the High Middle Ages .
