Marran Gosov

Marran Gosov (born October 3, 1933 in Sofia , Bulgaria ; actually Tzvetan Marangosoff ) is a Bulgarian-German filmmaker and writer .

Life

Marran Gasov, bourgeois Tzvetan Marangosoff, was the only child of his parents, a German mother and a Bulgarian father. He studied painting and wrote his novel The Indifferent in political custody in a Bulgarian prison in the 1950s . In April 1960 he emigrated to West Germany and lived in Munich until 1991 . He wrote radio plays and produced numerous short films of his own , in which he was responsible for the script, direction, editing and sometimes also for the camera. In 1967 he shot his first full-length feature film as a director , Engelchen or Die Jungfrau von Bamberg with Gila von Weitershausen . The film produced by Rob Houwer premiered on March 8, 1968. Gosov also wrote the scripts for Rob Houwer and directed Zuckerbrot und Peitsche (1968) with Helga Anders and Roger Fritz in the leading roles and Bengelchen loves criss-crossing (1968) with Harald Leipnitz .

His daughter Janna Marangosoff , who worked as an actress in the 80s and 90s, was born in 1969.

Then the West Berlin film producer Horst Wendlandt hired him for the film The guy loves me - and should I believe that? (1969) with Uschi Glas and Harald Leipnitz, Gosov wrote the book and took over the direction. In 1971/72 he produced the feature film Wonnekloß (1972) with Dieter Augustin , for which he was responsible for the script , direction and editing.

In the following years he took leave of the cinema as a director and worked mainly as a writer and director for German television series such as Okay SIR or Ein Fall für Zwei . As a film composer , he made a name for himself in the feature films Verführung: Die cruelame Frau (1985) by Elfie Mikesch and Monika Treut , Lieber Karl (1985) by Maria Knilli and Horror vacui (1984), A Virus Knows No Morals (1986) and most recently Affengeil (1990) by Rosa von Praunheim .

In April 1991 he moved back to Bulgaria and now lives there as a poet , playwright and writer of national standing.

In November 2008 the Filmclub 813 from Cologne devoted a first comprehensive retrospective to him (with the title “Marran Gosov - A Bulgarian in Schwabing”) in Germany with numerous short films and his five full-length feature films. Marran Gosov was present in Cologne on the evening of November 15th, 2008 for this occasion.

2,016 were in the Goethe-Institut Bulgaria under the Sofia International Film Festival 's "short films of the 60s and 70s from Munich" of Marran Gosov shown. This evening was curated by Bernhard Marsch .
