Martha Pässold

Martha Pässold, b. Spindler (born November 3, 1911 in Ilmenau ; † December 18, 1998 there ) was a German functionary of the Democratic Peasant Party of Germany (DBD) and the Society for German-Soviet Friendship . From 1954 to 1971 she was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Pässold, daughter of a worker, attended elementary and household school. From 1926 to 1957 she worked in her parents' farm, then as a cooperative farmer and from 1964 as a milker and skilled worker for cattle breeding in the LPG "Karl Marx" Ilmenau.

In 1947 she became a member of the Association of Mutual Farmers Aid (VdgB) and in 1952 of the Democratic Peasant Party of Germany (DBD). She was one of the founders of the DBD local group Ilmenau. From 1953 she was a member of the DBD district board in Suhl , from 1954 second chairwoman of the district board and member of the secretariat of the district board of Ilmenau and the district board of Suhl of the DBD. From 1954 to 1959 she was chairwoman of the DBD district executive in Ilmenau.

From 1954 to 1971 she was a member of the People's Chamber for the DBD and there from 1958 to 1967 a member of the committee for citizens' submissions. Martha Pässold was confirmed as a candidate by the "Election Officer of the Republic" on October 15, 1954, two days before the election day. She replaced the candidate Frieda Hopf from Hirschendorf in Thuringia, who had withdrawn from the National Front .

From 1952 she was second chairwoman and member of the secretariat of the Ilmenau district board of the VdgB and from 1954 to 1957 she was a member of the VdgB district board Suhl. From 1952 to 1966 she was also chairwoman and later a member of the board of the rural trading cooperative in Ilmenau.

From 1954 she was a member of the Democratic Women's Association of Germany (DFD) and honorary member of the DFD district board in Suhl. From 1962 she acted as chairwoman of the women's committee of the LPG " Karl Marx " in Ilmenau and from 1966 she was also a member of the Suhl district committee of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship . During her visits to the Soviet Union , however, she avoided taking part in wreath-laying ceremonies in honor of the Soviet soldiers, since her first husband, Kurt Eichel, had died as a corporal on the Eastern Front in 1944.

Martha Pässold was married and had one child.

Awards

Pässold was awarded the Badge of Honor of the National Front in 1957 , later the GDR Medal of Merit , the Badge of Honor of the VdgB , the DBD Badge of Honor and the Clara Zetkin Medal in 1964.
