Martin Bollacher

Martin Bollacher (born December 2, 1940 in Stuttgart ) is a retired German German philologist and literary scholar .

Life

Martin Bollacher studied German, Romance studies and philosophy at the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen , the Free University of Berlin and the Université de Rennes from 1960 to 1966 . In 1961 she was accepted into the German National Academic Foundation . In 1966 he presented at the University of Tübingen Education Examination for teaching at secondary schools in the subjects German and French, and in 1969 with a dissertation on Goethe and Spinoza at Richard Brinkmann doctorate . The habilitationfollowed in 1977 in Tübingen with a study on the problem of religious enlightenment in Lessing's late writings . From February to June 1981 he was an exchange lecturer at Washington University , St. Louis . From 1986 until his retirement in 2007 he taught as a full professor for modern German literary history at the Ruhr University in Bochum . Several DAAD and DFG short-term lectureships and lecture tours have taken him to South Korea and Japan (1998), Russia (2001), Georgia (2002 and 2015), India (2003), PR China (2004 and 2014).

research

Martin Bollacher's research focuses on historical , exegetical and intercultural aspects in the literature of the Enlightenment and the age of Goethe , Romanticism and the 20th century , the relationship between literature and philosophy / theology as well as German-French and German-Jewish literary relations . His dissertation documents the long-denied or marginalized importance of the Dutch-Jewish philosopher Benedictus [Baruch] de Spinoza for Goethe's early work. In the Habilitation Gotthold Ephraim Lessing's later writings (Publication of be Reimarus - Fragments , The Education of the Human Race ) interpreted in the context of contemporary education positions. Further fields of work are in particular the works of Johann Gottfried Herder ( philosophy of history , annotated edition ) and Elias Canettis ( poetology , intercultural references).
