Mathias Zopfi (born December 14, 1983 in Glarus ; resident in Glarus Süd ) is a Swiss politician ( Greens ).

Career

Mathias Zopfi was born on December 14, 1983 in Glarus and has lived in Engi ever since . After attending secondary school in Matt and the district school in Glarus he graduated in 2004 the Matura and studied at the University of Zurich Law and collected as deputy court clerk at the Cantonal Court of Glarus and as a legal assistant in several law firms experiences. 2013 he was admitted as an attorney and in 2015 as a notary in the canton of Glarus, and was from 2014 firm active in Glarus.

Today he works as a lawyer and notary in Glarus, where he has been co-owner of a law firm since 2017. He also works as a substitute judge in the military appeals court.

Zopfi is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Autobetrieb Sernftal AG and Vice- Chairman of the Board of Directors of Glarus hoch3 AG . He is the managing director of Zopfi & Partner GmbH , actuary of the Glarus Lawyers and Notaries Association and the Zopfi Foundation, as well as a board member of the Glarus Economic Archives .

Political activity

In 2010 Mathias Zopfi was elected to the municipal council in Glarus Süd , for which he has been vice president since 2015. Here he heads the Department of Economics and Finance in Haslen . He has also been a member of the district administrator since 2011, which he presided over in the 2017/18 year of office. Here, too, he was active in several commissions. He has been a member of the Cantonal School Council since 2011.

As a member of the Greens, Zopfi was on the cantonal board of his party from 2004 to 2016 and since 2011 he has been on the board of the Glarus Süd party section.

In the 2019 parliamentary elections , he was surprisingly elected to the Council of States for the canton of Glarus , where he replaces the previous mandate holder Werner Hösli ( SVP ).

Zopfi is considered a moderate green man who tends to politicize bourgeoisie politically left, socio-politically.
