Thomas Hefti (born October 30, 1959 in Zurich , legal resident in Glarus Süd ) is a Swiss lawyer and politician ( FDP. Liberals ).

Hefti graduated from the canton school in Glarus , which he graduated with the Matura in 1978 . He then studied at the University of Neuchatel Law and acquired in 1984 the licentiate . 1988 doctorate he with the thesis La protection de la propiété étrangère en droit international public Dr. iur. In 1992 he also obtained a Master of Laws degree from the University of London . Hefti has been working as a lawyer in the canton of Glarus since 1994 .

1998 Hefti was in the council of Schwanden selected. From 2006 to 2010 he was the last mayor of Schwanden, from 2011 the first mayor of Glarus Süd . In 2008 he was elected to the Glarus District Administrator , in 2014 he was elected to the Council of States as the successor to Pankraz Freitag, who died in office . In the 2019 elections he was confirmed in office as a Council of States.

Hefti is married and has a stepson.
