Matthew Henderson (* 1. March 1974 in White Bear Lake , Minnesota ) is a retired American ice hockey players , among others in the National Hockey League for the Nashville Predators and Chicago Blackhawks and in the German Ice Hockey League for the Iserlohn Roosters was active .

Career

Henderson began his career in 1992 in the United States Hockey League with the St. Paul Vulcans. After two years in the most important junior league in the United States , he began studying at the University of North Dakota and played on the university team, the Fighting Sioux in the NCAA . In his third year he won the championship with his team and was also voted best player of the final tournament.

In July 1998 he signed his first professional contract as a free agent with the Nashville Predators . Henderson spent most of his rookie season on the Predators' farm team , the Milwaukee Admirals of the International Hockey League . He was also on the NHL squad twice , although he was never selected by a team in the NHL Entry Draft . After the season he was transferred to the Philadelphia Flyers , in return Paul Healey moved to the Predators. In the organization of the Flyers, however, he only played for the Philadelphia Phantoms in the American Hockey League and for the Trenton Titans in the East Coast Hockey League . From the 2000/01 season he played three years for the AHL team of the Norfolk Admirals and came in the 2001/02 season to four NHL games for the Chicago Blackhawks .

Then he moved to Europe to the Iserlohn Roosters in the German Ice Hockey League . After the 2003-04 season , Henderson ended his professional career at the age of 30 to accept a job offer outside of ice hockey.
