Matthew Dellavedova (born September 8, 1990 in Maryborough , Victoria ) is an Australian basketball player who is currently under contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the US professional league NBA .

Career

Dellavedova played in Australia for the renowned Australian Institute of Sport before moving to the US in 2009 to play for the college team at Saint Mary's College of California .

He left Saint Mary's after four years as the most successful scorer and assist . In the subsequent NBA draft in 2013 , however, he was not considered by any NBA team. Shortly afterwards he was signed by the Cleveland Cavaliers for the NBA Summer League and, after convincing performances, signed on.

In 2015 he was invited to the NBA All-Star Weekend Rookie Challenge . In June 2015 he reached the NBA Finals with the Cavaliers, but lost with his team to the Golden State Warriors . A year later Dellavedova reached the final again with the Cavaliers, where they met the Warriors again and won the final series after a 1: 3 deficit. It was the first championship in the history of the Cleveland Cavaliers, as well as for Dellavedova.
