Matthias B. Hildreth
Matthias Bernard Hildreth (* around 1774; † July 11, 1812 ) was an American lawyer and politician .
Career
Matthias Bernard Hildreth, son of James Hildreth († 1818) was during the reign of George III. born. His family moved in 1797 from Southampton ( New York ) to Johnstown (New York). Johnstown was then in Montgomery County , but is now in Fulton County . His father became a judge there on the Court of Common Pleas . Nothing is known about Matthias Bernard Hildreth's youth. In the presidential election in 1804 , he served as elector for Thomas Jefferson and George Clinton , both of the Democratic Republican Party . On March 13, 1808 he married Ann Rust (around 1769-1821). The couple had two children: James Tallmage (1809-1857) and Catherine Mary. Hildreth was Attorney General of New York from 1808 to 1810 and from 1811 until his death . He was buried in the Old Colonial Cemetery in Johnstown.
