Matthias Körner (painter)

Matthias Körner (born August 12, 1954 in Cottbus ) is a German painter , draftsman , graphic artist and photographer .

Life

From 1971 to 1982, Körner trained as a nurse , occupational therapist and potter . From 1984 to 1986 he completed private studies in painting, among others with Rainer Zille . He has been working as a freelance artist since reunification and has undertaken several work, exhibition and project trips since 1993, initially mainly to European countries and from 1996 to Morocco and Uganda . He has also been taking photos since 2000. After a workshop for students at the School of Fine Art at Makerere University in Kampala in 2000, he was given a teaching position there in 2005.

In particular, he deals with the health and environmentally friendly etching / gravure printing technique intagliotype . Körner, who has been regularly involved in exhibitions since 1987, had his first solo exhibitions in Guben (Small Gallery), in Potsdam (Trapez Gallery) and in his home town (Galerie Haus 23) in 1990 , followed by others at home and abroad.

Realized art projects in public space by him are located at the motorway service stations Fläming ( A 9 ; since 1995) and Freienhufen ( A 13 , 1997), at the Brandenburg University (since 1997), in Neuküstrinchen -Neuranft in Oderbruch since August 15, 1998 the Oder flood monument "Flood Sign", in the foyer of the Brandenburg State Chancellery (since 2001), in the Lübben District Court (since 2003) and in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the State of Brandenburg (MBJS; since 2006).
