Mau-Ubo ( Mau-Ubu , Mauabu , Maubo , Mahubo , Mauhubo ) is an East Timorese suco in the administrative office of Hatulia ( municipality of Ermera ).

Before the 2015 regional reform, Mau-Ubo had an area of ​​8.92 km². Now there are 8.53 km². The Suco is located in the northeast of the Hatulia administrative office. To the northwest is the Suco Urahou , southwest of the Suco Fatubessi , south of the Suco Fatubolo and east of the Suco Lisapat . In the north Mau Ubo borders the community to Liquiçá belonging Office of Administration Liquiçá with his Suco Açumanu . Almost the entire border with Lisapat is formed by the Guotclua River , which flows into the Gleno , which follows along the northern border. The rivers are part of the Lóis system .

To the north is the village of Tidibesse , to the west Arleu ( Arle ) and to the south Grotu ( Groto ) and Leburema ( Leborema ). In Arleu there is a medical station and a primary school, the Escola Primaria Mau-Ubo .

In the Suco are the four Aldeias Arleu , Caisoru , Grotu and Leburema .

Residents

1690 inhabitants (2015) live in the Suco, of which 788 are men and 902 women. The population density is 198.0 inhabitants / km². There are 267 households in the Suco. Over 81% of the population name Mambai as their mother tongue. About 18% speak Tetum Prasa .

history

During the 1999 riots in Hatulia between January 27 and September the pro-Indonesian militias Darah Merah , Aitarak and Pancasila operated together with the Indonesian military against supporters of East Timor’s independence. Between May 10 and 14, Mau-Ubo and other sucos were ambushed in Hatulia.

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Jacinto de Jesus Soares was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections , Domingos Noronha won .
