Ailelo is an East Timorese suco in the administrative office of Hatulia ( municipality of Ermera ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Ailelo had an area of ​​26.38 km². Now it is 25.52 km². The Suco is to the west of the Hatulia administrative office. To the north are the Sucos Aculau and Fatubessi , to the east the Sucos Manusae and Hatolia Vila and south of the Suco Samara . In the west, Ailelo borders on the administrative office of Cailaco, which belongs to the municipality of Bobonaro, with the Suco Purugua . The border with Bobonaro is formed by the Marobo , into which the northern border river, the Eahora, also flows. The same applies to the springing in Ailelo rivers Hatobwi and Fohola and the river Celere , which forms part of the border with Hatolia Vila. All rivers are part of the Lóis system .

Coming from Hatolia Vila, an overland road leads right through Ailelo to Maliana in the southwest. The places Foetete , Foelemea ( Foclemea ), Tata and Betopu ( Betupu ) are located on it. North of the town of Hatolia Vila, the country road continues to Ermera . The village of Poerema lies on it in a foothills of Ailelo . In the northeast is the village of Leirema , in the southeast the village of Lukulaulau . There are primary schools in Betopu and Leirema.

The four Aldeias Betopu , Leirema , Santa Cruz and Tata are located in the Suco .

Residents

The Suco has 2556 inhabitants (2015), of which 1325 are men and 1231 women. The population density is 100.1 inhabitants / km². There are 399 households in the Suco. Over 81% of the population name Tetum Prasa as their mother tongue. Almost 17% speak Mambai and a minority speak Kemak .

At the end of 1979 there was a transit camp in Betupu , where the Indonesian occupying forces interned East Timorese civilians.

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Marcelino da Silva was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections , Teofilo Martins de Aráujo won .
