Max McCormick (born May 1, 1992 in De Pere , Wisconsin ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Carolina Hurricanes from the National Hockey League since July 2019 and at the same time for their farm team , the Charlotte Checkers , in the American Hockey League is used.

Career

In his youth, Max McCormick played in regional high school leagues in his native Wisconsin, before he was selected in the 2010 Entry Draft of the United States Hockey League (USHL) in fifth position by the Sioux City Musketeers . For the team, the attacker scored 42 scorer points in 55 games of the 2010/11 season and was subsequently also considered in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in 171th place by the Ottawa Senators . He then enrolled at Ohio State University and took part in the next three years with their Buckeyes in the game operations of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), a league of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). As a freshman he was elected to the CCHA All-Rookie Team .

In May 2014, McCormick signed an entry-level contract with the Ottawa Senators and, as expected, was initially used with their farm team , the Binghamton Senators , in the American Hockey League (AHL). In October 2015, the American made his debut for Ottawa in the National Hockey League (NHL), but continues to switch regularly between the NHL and AHL. With the beginning of the 2017/18 season he was active for the new farm team, the Belleville Senators , while he came to 30 appearances in the NHL. The commuting between the NHL and AHL squads continued in the 2018/19 season before he was transferred to the Colorado Avalanche in February 2019 in exchange for JC Beaudin . There he was used exclusively in the AHL with the Colorado Eagles before he joined the Carolina Hurricanes as a free agent in July 2019 and signed a one-year contract with them.
