Caspar Maximilian ( baptized name: Caspar Maximilian Josef Thomas Hubert Maria ) Droste zu Vischering-Padberg (born March 7, 1808 in Münster , † May 27, 1887 in Coburg ) was district administrator of the Brilon district and a Prussian member of parliament.

Life

Origin and family

As the son of the married couple Maximilian Droste zu Vischering-Padberg and Regina Dorothea Franziska von Padberg zu Padberg , Caspar Maximilian came from the Westphalian noble family of Droste zu Vischering . His father of the same name was the master of Padberg-Unterhaus and Hoppecke and since 1817 the district administrator of the Brilon district. His uncles were: Adolf Heidenreich (* 1769, † 1826, builder of the Erbdrostenhof), Kaspar (* 1770, † 1846, Bishop of Münster), Franz (* 1771, † 1826, Catholic theologian and publicist) and Clemens (* 1773, † 1845, Archbishop of Cologne). In 1835 he married Theresia von Galen , daughter of Clemens August Josef von Galen (* 1748, † 1820) and Anna Angela Caroline von Ascheberg (* 1773, † 1806) in Münster .

Professional background

Caspar Maximilian attended the Petrinum grammar school in Brilon. With the secondary school leaving certificate he left school and entered the Prussian military in 1826. He served with the 2nd Westphalian Hussar Regiment No. 11 in Münster. In 1830 Vischering-Padberg was promoted to secondary lieutenant and left the army in 1832. In 1845 he passed the bailiff's examination at the government in Arnsberg and was entrusted with the administration of the Brilon district. Despite a majority of votes, the government in Arnsberg in 1846 spoke out against a final appeal, because it considered Vischering-Padberg to be unsuitable. After successfully passing the district administration exam, he was definitively appointed. Vischering-Padberg held the district office until his retirement in 1878. In 1845 he took part in the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia . He had been elected as a deputy to the knighthood in the constituency of the Duchy of Westphalia.

In 1855 Vischering-Padberg was elected to the Prussian House of Representatives for the electoral district Meschede-Brilon-Wittgenstein .
