Maximilian Roider

Maximilian Roider (born April 29, 1877 in Hörmannsdorf , a district of Parsberg ; † January 19, 1947 in Regensburg ) was a German sculptor , stonemason and portraitist .

Life

Max Roider was the son of a village teacher. At the age of 23 he enrolled on April 30, 1900 in the sculpture school with Professor Syrius Eberle at the Munich Art Academy . Other teachers in Munich were Romeis, Anton Pruska and Gess. After that he settled in Regensburg, where he had his studio and apartment at Krauterermarkt 2 . One of his students was Josef Picker . He was buried in the Catholic cemetery in Niedermünster in Regensburg.

  • Cham , parish church St. Jakob , 6 larger than life altar figures and the pulpit (signed) with its reliefs in neo-baroque style
  • War memorial plaque : Memorial for the soldiers who remained from the Menning parish during the war of 1914/1918
  • Kirchenthumbach Assumption of Mary, St. Joseph (1932), The Christ the King statue from 1935 was stowed on the bell floor after the old church was torn down. In April 2013 it was rediscovered and restored and repositioned at the entrance.

  • Regensburg, relief plate, dated "A 1912 D", was designed with an angel presenting the coat of arms of the Regensburg cathedral chapter. It shows St. Peter in the ship with a key in his right hand and a fish in his left. This motif is a Regensburg specialty. It can already be found in a relief from 1305/1310 on the north wall of the transept of the cathedral (see web link diocese museum).
