history

As Silja Festival

Use at Silja Line

The ship was built from 1984 to 1985 under the name Wellamo by the then Wärtsilä shipyard in Helsinki, Finland and delivered to the then Effoa (now Tallink Silja Oy , → see Silja Line ) on January 2, 1986 . After a renovation in 1992 at the Lloyd shipyard in Bremerhaven , it was renamed the Silja Festival . After a brief assignment for Silja Line Euroway in the southern Baltic Sea between Malmö , Copenhagen and Lübeck in 1993 and 1994, the ship was then mainly operated on the Stockholm - Mariehamn - Turku (Åbo) route, with a few exceptions.

Use at Tallink

After the Silja Oy was taken over by Tallink in July 2006, the Silja Festival was also transferred to Tallink. From 2008 the ship, which is classified with the ice class 1A Super, was used by Tallink on the route Stockholm - Riga from August 2nd, 2008 , but kept the previous name Silja Festival despite a new paint job in the Tallink colors . On April 5, 2013 Tallink announced the purchase of the Viking Line ferry Isabella , which, under the name Isabelle, replaced the Silja Festival on the Stockholm-Riga route with a higher passenger and vehicle capacity. From May 5, 2013 the Silja Festival was launched in Riga.

Hotel ship in Vancouver

From March 2014 to April 2015 the ship served as a hotel in Vancouver in 2015 . During this time the ship was operated by Bridgemans Services Ltd. chartered. The ship was to be sold by Tallink to Bridgemans Services Ltd. in April 2015. sold. However, the preliminary contract was terminated.

Use at Medinvest SPA

The Silva Festival was finally sold to Medinvest SPA with handover in June 2015. On June 10, 2015, Medinvest SPA took over the ship and renamed it Mega Andrea . After a renovation in Genoa, the ship has been in service between Livorno and Golfo Aranci since July 17, 2015 .

Sister ship

The Mega Andrea has a sister ship, the Mega Smeralda .
