Megan "Meggie" Dougherty Howard (born July 27, 1995 in Largo , Florida ) is an American soccer player who has been under contract with the Washington Spirit in the National Women's Soccer League since the 2017 season .

Career

society

During her studies at the University of Florida in Gainesville , Howard played from 2013 to 2016 for the local university team Florida Gators , for which she scored a total of 14 goals in 94 games. In 2013 she played for VSI Tampa Bay FC in the USL W-League . In 2015 and 2016, Howard also played for the Washington Spirit Reserves in the USL W-League and the Women's Premier Soccer League, respectively . She won the W-League title with her team in 2015 and was appointed to the "All-League Team".

In early 2017, Howard was drawn in 29th place by the Washington Spirit in the NWSL's college draft . She made her league debut on April 22, 2017 in a 1-1 draw with Orlando Pride . In her first season, Howard completed a total of 23 games and scored one goal.

National team

In May 2016 she played the "Nordic Tournament" in England with the U-23 national team of the US Football Association . In January 2017, Howard also took part in a training camp for the U-23 national team.
