Andi Maureen Sullivan (born December 20, 1995 in Honolulu , Hawaii ) is an American football player . She has played for Washington Spirit since 2018 and for the United States women's national soccer team since 2016 .

Career

College and clubs

She played from U-9 to U-13 for the LMVSC Patriots, from U-13 to U-18 for Bethesda Freedom and for the U-18 the McLean Youth Soccer. While studying at Stanford University , Sullivan played for the Stanford Cardinal university team in the NCAA and received several awards. At the same time, she played for the Washington Spirit reserve team in 2013 and 2014 .

On November 18, 2016, she tore a cruciate ligament so that she only made a few missions in 2017, but was still able to lead her team to the NCAA title. In January 2018 she was signed by the Washington Spirit as the first player in the 2018 NWSL College Draft . She was used in 23 of the 24 games in the 2018 National Women's Soccer League , but only finished penultimate in the table with her team. In 2019 they just missed the final round as fifth.

National team

Sullivan took part with the US U-17 national team in the 2012 CONCACAF U-17 Championship for women in May 2012 , where she was used in two preliminary round matches and the semi-finals. Against the Bahamas and Trinidad and Tobago, she was able to contribute to the 10-0 and 5-0 victories in the preliminary round as a goal scorer. By making it to the final, her team qualified for the U-17 Women's World Cup in Azerbaijan in 2012 and also won the final against Canada 1-0, so that their team did not concede a goal in the tournament. At the U-17 World Cup in September 2012, it was used in all three games. After a goalless draw against France at the start, they won against Gambia 6-0. Since it was only 1-1 in the last game against North Korea, they finished third behind the tied North Koreans, who had won higher against Gambia and also drew against each other, due to the fewer goals scored and were eliminated. France and North Korea then met again in the final, where they drew again after regular time and France won on penalties.

2014, it took the 20 national U-American at the CONCACAF U-20 Women's Championship in 2014 in part. Although one of the youngest players on the team, she was co-captain and played in various positions. She scored one goal each in the group game against Jamaica and in the final against Mexico, here with a corner kick. She and her team won the tournament without a goal and thus qualified for the 2014 U-20 Women's World Cup in Canada . Here it was used in all four games. After an opening defeat against eventual world champions Germany , she and her team won against Brazil 1-0 and China 3-0. In the quarter-finals against North Korea , which ended 1: 1 after extra time, the US girls lost 3-1 on penalties .

In March 2016 she took part in the Istria Cup with the U-23 team , where they faced the Slovenian A national team , the Polish U-20 team and the French B team and ended their group as winners. In June 2016, she and the team won the Nordic Cup in England .

In October 2016, she played her first international match for the senior national team in a 4-0 win against Switzerland and was named Player of the Game. She was also used in the last three games of the year. After that, however, it was not until October of the next year before she made her fifth international match due to an injury. It was then used in the last two international matches of the year. In 2018 it was only used sporadically despite 23 games for Washington Spirit , including a game in the SheBelieves Cup 2018 against France. She was not nominated for the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup 2018 , in which the US team qualified for the 2019 World Cup . She was initially not nominated for the January training camp, but was subsequently nominated on January 7th. But then it was not used against France and Spain. She was not nominated for the 2019 World Cup, but was used in the last two games on the subsequent Victory Tour. In the first two games under the new national coach Vlatko Andonovski , she was substituted in for the second half.
