The Mein Schiff 2 is a cruise ship of the shipping company TUI Cruises . It was christened on February 9, 2019 in Lisbon, has a length of about 316 meters and is approved for 2,894 passengers. The ship was delivered in January 2019. Previously, the previous Mein Schiff 2 was renamed Mein Schiff Herz .

In September 2014 TUI Cruises ordered the Mein Schiff 5 and Mein Schiff 6 from Meyer Turku. In addition, options were agreed for two further ships, Mein Schiff 1 and Mein Schiff 2 . Shortly after the first steel cut for Mein Schiff 6, TUI Cruises converted the options for two more ships into binding orders on July 1, 2015. These newbuildings should originally be called Mein Schiff 7 and Mein Schiff 8 , in the course of the planned handover of the old Mein Schiff 1 and the old Mein Schiff 2 , the shipping company decided to reassign these two numbers for the planned ships.

The construction of Mein Schiff 2 began with the first steel cut on February 13, 2017 under construction number NB-1393, next to the laying of the keel of Mein Schiff 1 . The keel of the new building was laid on October 5, 2017.

On 1 June 2018, the place with the flooding of the dry dock floating instead. On November 19, the ship left the shipyard for the first time for test drives on the open sea. In order to avoid a delay in delivery due to the icing of the Baltic Sea , the ship, which initially sailed under the Finnish flag, left Finland on January 3, 2019 for Kiel , where it arrived on January 5, 2019. After the last fitting work, the ship was delivered to Kiel on January 22nd, 2019, around 2 months earlier than originally planned.

Even before the christening trip began on January 23, 2019 in Kiel, a short trip for employees of travel agencies and on January 27, 2019 in Bremerhaven, an "anticipation trip" for paying guests. On February 9, 2019, the ship was christened by Carolin Niemczyk, the singer of the band Glasperlenspiel .

General

The Mein Schiff 2 , differs as well as the 2018 service Asked Mein Schiff 1 , from the earlier construction of new TUI Cruises. They are bigger and have a different look. For example, the two ships are a good 20 meters longer and have 180 more cabins than the shipping company's previous four newbuildings.

The ship has a 25 and a smaller pool about 10 meters long . There are 12 restaurants and 15 bars / lounges on board.

The christening voyage of the new Mein Schiff 2 began on February 3, 2019 in Bremerhaven and led via A Coruña (Spain) and Leixões (Portugal) to Lisbon . In the premiere season, 2019, Mein Schiff will operate 2 cruises from Palma de Mallorca on various routes in the Mediterranean. From October 2019 it goes to the Caribbean.
