The Mein Schiff 4 is the fourth ship of the cruise company TUI Cruises , a joint venture of the German TUI AG . It is the second new building of the company founded in April 2008.

history

Like Mein Schiff 3 , the ship was built at the STX Finland shipyard in Turku , which was renamed Meyer Turku during construction . When the Mein Schiff 3 was ordered on September 27, 2011, the option of a further new building was agreed. The actual order was placed on November 5, 2012. Construction of Mein Schiff 4 began on September 1, 2013, and the keel was laid on February 25, 2014. About half a year later, on October 10, 2014, the float took place. On April 20, 2015, the ship set sail for the first time and was delivered on May 8, 2015. The commissioning took place on May 15, 2015, the christening of the ship on June 5, 2015 by Franziska van Almsick in Kiel . The maiden voyage was in the Baltic States and went from Kiel through the Baltic Sea to Tallinn , St. Petersburg , Helsinki and Stockholm .

Incidents

On March 14, 2020, when the ship was in the roadstead in front of Palma de Mallorca , there was a deflagration in the hot water boiler in the engine room with two loud sound signals and smoke. The fire protection was then activated and areas of the ship evacuated.

Pool deck

The pool deck has a 25 meter long outdoor pool and two open-air whirlpools . The indoor pool is much smaller and also has two whirlpools.

Restaurants

The ship has nine restaurants and bistros. The main restaurant "Atlantik" is divided into two areas: "Mediterranean" and "Classic". The "Anckelmannsplatz" is the buffet restaurant on board; In addition, snacks are offered in the "Day & Night Bistro" on the promenade deck and in the "Außenalsterbar" on the sun deck. The "Hanami" (sushi bar), "La Spezia" (Italian specialties), Surf & Turf (steakhouse) and the café lounge in the stern are also available to guests on board for a surcharge.
