Melanie Hauss (* 20th December 1982 in Aarau as Melanie Anna Home ) is a former Swiss triathlete .

Career

At the age of six years was Melanie Annaheim member of the swimming club Aarefisch in her birthplace Aarau .

In 1994 she started athletics and in 2004 triathlon. In 2004 she competed in her first World Cup and at the U23 World Cup in Belgium, where she finished fifth. In 2006 she had to take a break for a few months because of glandular fever .

7th place in the 2009 European Triathlon Championship

In 2009 she ranked 28th in the ITU World Championship ranking and was one of the Swiss Olympic hopes in 2012 - Melanie Annaheim was a member of the national team in Team London 2012 .

In August 2011 she was runner-up in the triathlon world championship with the Swiss mixed team in Lausanne - together with Nicola Spirig , Sven Riederer and Ruedi Wild .

In France, Melanie Annaheim took part in the French club championship series Lyonnaise des Eaux and, like her compatriot Céline Schärer , competed for Tri Club Châteauroux 36 (TCC 36) . At the grand finale of the 2012 Club Championship series in Nice, she came fourth in the individual ranking and was therefore the best of her club TCC 36 , for which she won bronze. In the overall ranking of 2012, TCC 36 achieved fourth place.

In Switzerland, Hauss represented the Athletics Club Regensdorf in the canton of Zurich . She was looked after by the former long-distance runner and triathlete Magali Messmer . In 2014 Melanie Hauss announced her withdrawal from professional sports.

Private

Annaheim completed vocational training as a marketing assistant . Melanie Annaheim's younger brother, Matthias Annaheim , is also a triathlete.

Melanie Hauss has been married to the French triathlete David Hauss since September 2012 . Their first son was born in autumn 2014. They live together in Schönenwerd and have two sons. Today, the two of them work as trainers and supervisors with Hauss Sport Connection .
