Melissa Courtney-Bryant (born August 30, 1993 in Poole as Melissa Courtney ) is a Welsh athlete who competes in medium and long-distance running .
Athletic career
Melissa Courtney-Bryant gained her first international experience at the U23 European Championships in Tallinn in 2015 , where she finished tenth in the 1,500 meter run in 4: 17.49 minutes . The following year she qualified for the European Championships in Amsterdam , where she was eliminated in the first round with 4: 18.74 minutes. At the 2017 Summer Universiade in Taipei , she was fifth in 4: 21.14 min and then won the mixed relay at the European Cross Country Championships in Šamorín . In 2018 she took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast , where she won the bronze medal in 4: 03.44 min behind the South African Caster Semenya and Beatrice Chepkoech from Kenya. She also finished ninth in the 5000 meter run in 15: 46.60 minutes. In this discipline she also took part in the European Championships in Berlin , where she finished fifth in 15: 04.75 min.
Courtney-Bryant holds a Masters Degree in Sports Psychology from Brunel University in London. In October 2019 she married the decathlete Ashley Bryant .
