The 1st Melodi Grand Prix took place on February 20, 1960 in the NRK studios in Oslo . The competition consisted of a semi-final and a final.
Semifinals
In this semifinal, which was played on the Norwegian radio on February 4, 1960, the two singers Inger Jacobsen and Jens Book-Jensen sang eleven songs. Five songs should qualify for the final. The jury voted: Each member of the jury gave each song a score from 1 to 5. Actually, only five titles should make it into the final, but since there were three fourth-placed titles, six titles made it into the final.

At the Eurovision Song Contest in London in 1960 , Nora Brockstedt achieved a shared fourth place with “Voi Voi” with 11 points. It is still one of the best Norwegian results ever (in terms of placement).
