Raina Mercedes Echerer (born May 16, 1963 in Linz ) is an Austrian stage and film actress , director , presenter and spokeswoman for radio and television programs. From 1999 to 2004 she was on the list of Green MEPs in the European Parliament as an independent party .

Life

Mercedes Echerer grew up bilingual (German and Hungarian). She graduated from BORG Linz in 1981 and then trained in acting, dance and singing at the Linz State Theater .

As a theater actress, she had engagements at the Theater an der Wien ( Cats 1984–1985), the Vienna Volkstheater (1985–1989) and the Theater in der Josefstadt (1990–1998). From 1991 to 1996 she presented the cultural program kunst -stücke and the Prix ​​Ars Electronica gala on ORF .

From 1999 to 2004, after the European elections in Austria in 1999 , she was a member of the European Parliament for the Greens , but without being a party member.
