Merthan Açıl (born February 15, 1982 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish football player .

Career

Açıl began club football in the youth of Bakırköyspor and was involved in the training of professionals from the spring of 2000. On the last days of the season he was also appointed to the squad for some league games. So he made his professional debut on May 21, 2000 during a league game against Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor . In the summer of 2000 he finally got a professional contract and at the beginning of the new season he immediately made it into the regular formation and played here for two seasons continuously.

In the summer of 2002 he moved to the then second division club Çaykur Rizespor . Here he played regularly for one and a half seasons and made direct promotion to the Süper Lig with his team in his first season as runner-up in the TFF 1st Lig . From February he then played as a loan player at league rivals Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor . After he had spent the 2005/06 season on loan with third division club Giresunspor , he left in the summer of 2006 when his contract expired.

For the new season he was hired by the then second division team Kasımpaşa Istanbul . Here he immediately fought for a regular place and rose with his team in his first season as a relegation player of the TFF 1st Lig in the Süper Lig . He was also one of his team's regulars in the Süper Lig. After his club missed relegation in the first season, he went with his team again in the TFF 1. Lig. Here, the club managed to get promoted again via relegation. From summer 2009 he lost his regular place, but came as a supplementary player to several missions.

In spring 2012 he left Kasımpaşa after about six years and switched to league rivals Adanaspor . With this club they made it to the relegation final of the TFF 1st Lig and lost here to Kasımpaşa of all places. With this club he finished the 2015/16 season as champions and was promoted to the Süper Lig for the fourth time in his career. At the end of the season he left the club when his contract ended.

For the 2016/17 season he moved to the new second division club Ümraniyespor .
