Michael Erler (director)

Michael Erler (* 1951 in Dresden , GDR ) is a German author , film director and film producer who works in the field of television reporting and documentary film .

Life

Michael Erler acquired in 1969 from EOS "Paul Oestreich" in Berlin-Weissensee the university . From 1976 to 1980 he studied directing at the College for Film and Television of the GDR in Potsdam-Babelsberg , his diploma film from 1980 was called Die Wettiner . After the fall of the Berlin Wall in the 1990s and 2000s, in numerous 30- to 60-minute documentaries, mostly broadcast by the public broadcasters NDR , MDR , Arte and ARD , he covered the need for information about accidents and catastrophes from the hitherto hardly journalistically processed GDR times or government and Stasi buildings built in secrecy on the territory of the former GDR for the entire German public.

Michael Erler runs with his wife, the assistant director Petra Erler (* 1960 in Staaken ) in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg , the Michael Erler Film Production .
